Why go
Ardastra Gardens, Zoo and Conservation Centre sits a few minutes from downtown Nassau and packs a zoo, a botanical garden and a conservation programme onto one compact site. The single best reason to come is the marching flamingo show, where a line of trained pink flamingos steps out in formation for visitors; it looks staged in photos, but it isn’t.
Outside show times, the gardens themselves are the draw: shaded walking paths through tropical planting, laid out as a place to wander slowly rather than rush through in a loop.
Visiting: hours, admission, booking
The facts box on this page shows the daily opening hours and the adult admission price. Children pay less and infants aged three and under get in free, so check the current child rate before you go if you are visiting as a family. The gardens are closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
The official site, ardastra.com, is the best place to confirm flamingo show times and any other live schedule changes before your visit, since those can shift seasonally in ways the facts box does not track.
Getting there
Ardastra Gardens is on Chippingham Road in Nassau, New Providence, close enough to the city centre and the cruise port that it works as a half-day stop on a wider Nassau itinerary. A taxi from downtown or from the cruise terminal is the simplest way in; ask your driver for Chippingham Road by name, as it sits just off the main tourist strip rather than on it.
Nearby
Nassau’s other sights, including the Queen’s Staircase and Fort Fincastle, sit closer to the harbourfront; pair a morning at Ardastra Gardens with an afternoon in the old town, covered on the Bahamas things-to-do page.
